Why I’m Running
A fair assessment of what I did in my first Congressional campaign, and what I’m still doing in my second, can be appropriately described as being up-close and personal. More importantly, I pledge that when I’m in Congress, I will continue to be up-close and personal for those in California’s 42nd District. It is something that the current member of Congress has never done.
When I’m not in Washington, I’ll be home talking with and listening to the people of California’s 42nd District and regularly attending community events. The people deserve a representative with whom they can talk and who will listen. It is what I’ll do – and it is why I’m running.
When I’m in Washington, I’ll work on behalf of those same people – I’ll be the people’s representative. I will not serve the millionaires or the billionaires, or the banks, or the insurance companies, or the special interests groups. It will all be about what’s best for the people – individually. It’s just that simple.

According to the Brookings Institution, Benjamin Franklin created the first American political cartoon in 1754. They are an American tradition. But they are more than that too. As cartoonist Doug Mariette said: “Good cartoons hit you primitively and emotionally. A cartoon is a frontal attack, a slam dunk, a cluster bomb.” That’s what we we’re doing in GerryMan. Most importantly, everything in the cartoon is true! Please enjoy!
