Tim Sheridan, the California Democratic Party’s endorsed candidate for the 42nd Congressional District, attended a forum Saturday in support of Proposition 41 which will help veterans obtain affordable housing. The event was hosted in Moreno Valley outside of the 42nd district, but Tim felt it was vital to attend. “The problems facing our veterans are national and should never be influenced by regional politics” Tim Said. “Our veteran’s sacrifice for us when they serve our country; we must honor their sacrifice by ensuring they can re-establish their lives when they come home. Proposition 41 will help them obtain affordable housing and I encourage everyone to vote yes for this initiative on June 3rd.”

According to the Official California Voting Guide, Proposition 41 “Authorizes $600 million in general obligation bonds for affordable multifamily supportive housing to relieve homelessness, affordable transitional housing, affordable rental housing, or related facilities for veterans and their families.” Proposition 41 is supported by former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, current Speaker of the California Assembly Toni Atkins, former Speaker of the California Assembly John A. Perez, President of U.S. Vets Stephen Peck, California State Commander of the VFW Ed Ford, Executive Director of Veterans Resource Center of America Peter Cameron, and California State Commander of the American Legion Joseph Garcia, along with many others.

“Since the founding of our nation, men and women have answered the call to serve. Their service and sacrifice is the reason that we have the freedom we cherish. It is our responsibility to do everything within our power to provide them with transitional assistance, medical care, and job training – along with other things they may need when they leave the service.” Sheridan said.
