Tim Sheridan, the Democratic Party’s leading candidate in the race for California’s 42nd Congressional District, criticized the House Republican choice of Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan to serve as Speaker of the House.
“The fact that Republicans elected Paul Ryan Speaker of the House demonstrates that they lack concern for both the middle class and seniors,” Sheridan said, “Mr. Ryan’s proposals regarding Social Security and turning Medicare into a voucher system are not consistent with what the majority of Americans support and would hurt seniors trying to make ends meet.”
Mr. Ryan, who has been the ranking Republican on the House Budget Committee since 2007, has supported various changes to both Social Security and Medicare over the years, including advocating for Social Security privatization and turning Medicare into a voucher program. In addition to serving as Mitt Romney’s Vice President running mate in his unsuccessful campaign for President in 2012, Mr. Ryan is also known for proposing budgets that he has called Path to Prosperity and that others have called unrealistic. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-partisan/wp/2014/04/01/paul-ryans-unrealistic-path-to-prosperity/

Mr. Sheridan lives in Lake Elsinore and was the 2014 Democratic nominee for Congress in the 42nd District.
